Little League Canada unveils the date and official schedule of the Canadian Championship which will be held in Val-d’Or in august 2009.

During their visit in Val-d'Or for a Board of Directors’ meeting, the leaders of Little League Canada took the opportunity to hold a press conference to unveil the official schedule for their Canadian Championship to be held in Val-d'Or next August.

The 2009 Little League Canadian Championship will be held from August 7th to the 16th 2009. The enclosed schedule allows maximizing of the attendance to all games in the tournament and especially to the local team’s games. The encouragements being of great importance to all these young athletes, we invite people to take note of these dates and times in order to be able to attend in large numbers and participate in this unforgettable experience.

The Championship schedule will be available next week on the new website, www.cbmvd.qc.ca. Additional information relating to the organization, the activities and conduct of the Championship as well as useful information for visitors will be added in the coming months. We invite you to visit the site regularly in order not to miss any new information.

We would like to remind the public that the Little League Canadian Championship is a national tournament in which minor baseball teams from across Canada will compete for the Canadian Champion title. The winner will then represent the country at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania United States to compete for the World Champion title.

"Such a national event being held in the region is unusual" said Marc St-Pierre, Little League Canada district administrator. Rouyn-Noranda was host in 1986 and now, Val-d'Or has the honour of hosting the Championship. "For our youngsters, it is an incredible opportunity to compete for a national title here, locally, in front of their friends and family and the people of Abitibi-Témiscamingue. We hope that all participating teams remember for a long time the warm welcome they will receive from people of Val-d'Or and the area " adds, in closing, Mr. St-Pierre.
